ABOUT SAACI
Founded in 1987, the Southern African Association for the Conference Industry (SAACI) is a Section 21 Company and is the umbrella body of the conference and meetings industry of South Africa and is dedicated to maintaining and improving its levels of efficiency and professionalism.
Its members consist of Professional Conference Organisers (PCO’s), Destination Management Companies, Event Management companies, hotels, conference venues, etc.
SAACI is recognised as the official body and mouth-piece of the conference industry by SA Tourism and government.

SAACI BRANCHES
SAACI has four regional branches:
· Eastern Cape Branch
· KwaZulu Natal Branch
· Northern Territories Branch - includes Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, the Free State, Botswana, Namibia
   and North West
· Western Cape Branch - includes the Northern Cape

Each branch has a secretariat and branch committee to look after members’ interests and needs. Representatives of the regional branch are elected by the members.
Elections for the Branch committee are usually conducted at the branch AGM.

SAACI FORUMS
A Forum is a group of SAACI members, within a branch, who all operate in a specific sector of business tourism.
SAACI has seven Forums representing special interest groups:
· Conference and Events (C&E) Forum
· Venue Forum
· Services Forum
· Exhibition Forum
· Destination Marketing Forum
· Transport Forum
· Technical Forum

Each Forum has its own Chair with representatives from each branch.
The national Forum will be entitled to nominate a representative to the SAACI Board.

NETWORKING FUNCTIONS
Each branch committee meets at least once a month to discuss SAACI and industry related matters. Regular networking social events take place at a SAACI member venue.
This is always a great opportunity to get to know all the industry role-players.

The SAACI logo may be displayed on letterheads and marketing material.

The membership certificate and code of conduct may be displayed at the member’s office.

The SAACI members’ database is listed on the website and is easily accessible and is regarded as a source of professional, credible companies in the industry.

SAACI members get a comprehensive website listing allowing the categorisation of services.
The website is marketed widely.

· Member newsletter - SAACImatters
SAACImatters is an electronic monthly newsletter.

· Southern African Conference, Exhibition & Events Guide
The Southern African Conference, Exhibition & Events Guide is the official journal of SAACI.
Members receive the magazine on a monthly basis.

· Yearbook
SAACI members are listed in the Southern Africa Conference, Exhibition & Events Yearbook – a definitive reference book for the conference industry.

· Networking & Events
SAACI has regular local, regional, and national events - both social and educational, where members network and establish relationships with clients, partners and suppliers.
This includes the annual SAACI national conference which coincides with the Annual General Meeting

.Professional Conference Organisers (PCOs) accreditation
SAACI PCOs can be independently accredited by Grant Thornton, as a further indication of professionalism.

SAACI is a member of The Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA) and through this membership links in with other hospitality industry and business tourism associations such as FEDHASA, SATSA, ASATA, SAVRALA, FTTSA, NAA-SA etc., who all work closely together in the interest of the industry.

SAACI is also recognised by Government, Government Agencies and SA Tourism as the official voice of the conference and meeting industry.
